Section 80D
Old Regime deduction for health insurance premiums — ₹25,000 for self+family, ₹50,000 if parents are seniors.
Section 80D allows deduction of health insurance premiums under the Old Regime: ₹25,000 for self + spouse + dependent children, plus an additional ₹25,000 for parents (₹50,000 if either parent is a senior citizen). Preventive health check-ups up to ₹5,000 are included.
80D is one of the few Old-Regime deductions that's purely about insurance you should be carrying anyway — there's no opportunity cost to using it.
